IP&RC Meeting Canceled After Failing to Draw a Quorum

IRONWOOD, MI - Tuesday, May 05, 2009 - The Ironwood Parks and Recreation Committee (IP&RC) failed to have a quorum for last night's regularly scheduled monthly meeting. Without a quorum, no action can be taken, however the members in attendance did discuss issues on the agenda. Marcy Kusz present a proposal for the construction of two volleyball courts. The group discussed possible locations for the new courts, and they agreed that Norrie Park would be an ideal location. Other options mentioned included Curry Park; Tank Hill; the former Sharon's Place (downtown); the Armory; and the Civic Center. The last two suggestions were made in jest. The group also discussed their role within the City. Dan Petersen explained how other cities handle parks and recreation issues. It was suggested that the IP&RC Committee be given a budget so that they can authorize minor improvements to various parks without going through the long chain of command.
