Cold Weather No Match for Kind Hearts - IVFD Car Wash a Success
IRONWOOD, MI - Saturday, May 16, 2009 - The Ironwood Volunteer Fire Department braved the chilly weather today to hold a fundraising car wash at the Holiday Station Store on Cloverland Drive. "Turnout ended up being pretty good for a snow day!" Fire Chief Ken Jacobson told the Chronicle, "Seriously we did pretty good considering the lousy weather." Jacobson said that people in the Ironwood area have always been extremely generous especially when it's for a worthwhile cause such as this. Chris and Brandie Cox joined the Volunteers in their effort to raise funds for the Department. Their father is a close friend of Jacobson's and he "volunteered" their services for the event. Jacobson expressed his gratitude to Holiday for allowing them to hold the car wash on their lot; he praised the customers that had their cars cleaned; and he thanked IronwoodInfo.com, the Daily Globe, and the Chronicle for getting the word out about the car wash.
