Group Holds Fundraiser for Baby with Genetic Disorder
IRONWOOD, MI - Saturday, May 16, 2009 - A brat sale took place in front of Ironwood's Wal-Mart today. The proceeds of the sale went to benefit the family of Micah Grady McConaghy. Four month-old Micah was born in January with a rare genetic disorder called Neonatal Marfan Syndrome. The syndrome had greatly affected Micah's respiratory system, heart, lungs and connective tissue causing long-term hospitalization in Madison Children's Hospital. Braving the near freezing temperatures to help raise money for Micah were Dan and Nichole Nordhaugen and their daughter Amelia; Peggy Williams; Greg Williams; Betty Cannon; Emily Cannon and -- coming all the way from Green Bay just to help -- Sarah Nordhaugen and her friend Kate. Several local businesses made donations that made today's fundraiser possible. They include: Super One; Nora's Bar & Red Carpet Lounge; Town & County Liquor; Camp K-9; Wal-Mart; Squeak's Bar; the Sawdust Bin; and Belmas Logging. For more information feel free to call Nichole Nordhaugen at (906) 364-3542. Donations to help little Micah and his family can be sent payable to: Joline McConagh at Ronald McDonald House, Room 302, 2716 Marshall Court, Madison, Wisconsin 53705.
