City's Spring Clean-Up Chilly, But Productive

IRONWOOD, MI - Saturday, May 16, 2009 - The City of Ironwood hosted their annual Spring Clean-Up today. Volunteers, including several City staffers, crew, Commissioners, and others from the community spent the bulk of their day helping area citizens discard unwanted items and debris. Even though the weather was rather brisk, a steady flow of pick-ups, trailers, vans, and cars brought a significant amount of "unwanteds" to this year's event.

JB Disposal's new contract with the City includes two such clean-up days. Another event will be held in the fall. Sam's Salvage was on hand to take away metal objects like furniture; bed springs; stoves, refrigerators, washers, dryers, and other appliances.

Volunteers were treated to brats, hot dogs, and beverages. The Clean-Up drop off point today was in the City lot next to Northwoods Auto on Ayer Street. This location has been the drop site for the event since its inception.
