Friends of the MMHP to Hold Second Float Work Bee

IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, November 16, 2009 - Last week the Friends of the Miners Memorial Heritage Park (MMHP) had a great start building a float for the Jack Frost Parade! Their crew constructed the base of an 8 ft high wooden replica of a mining shaft's headframe. They also are working on making some iron ore tailing piles out of cardboard and signs for the trailer.

The group urges interested people to join them this Tuesday, November 17th at 5:30 PM for another work bee. They will meet in the heated work garage of David Suutala. To get there from Ironwood, drive west on Highway 2 for about 2.5 miles past the Highway 51/Highway 2 overpass. The driveway is on the left. David's place is 1 mile before (east of) the Kimball Inn. A light and sign will direct you to the driveway.

If you know any miners who you think might like to walk or ride along the float, please contact Monie Shackleford. If you have any mining gear that you could lend to the organization, they would appreciate it. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun!
