Mompreneur Provides a Fun Tool to Tame those Christmas 'Gimmies'

BARRIE, ONTARIO CA - Thursday, November 05, 2009 - We are fast approaching that time of year when society, especially our kids, experiences a case of the Christmas 'gimmies.' Something which mother of two, Nikki Glahn (shown in photo above with her youngest child)  is hoping to combat. "I was inspired to start my company after listening to people last year declare that despite the economic downturn, they were going to be spending as much on Christmas as in previous years - simply because they had kids and that is what their kids expected. I thought to myself, is this really where we want our society to be? As a mother myself, it has always been one of my goals to ensure I am raising kids that are grateful for the life they have and are empathetic and kind to others. The result was 'Growing Great Families.'"

Building on the fact that our company was inspired by the holiday season, we developed our first 'tool' to help families. The 2009 Interactive Family Advent Calendar is a fun way to countdown to Christmas (December 1st - 24th). It brings together the entire family as they share a daily inspirational story, a craft, fun games and more. Each of the 24 stories (non-denominational) focuses on values like kindness, gratitude, empathy, etc. and they encourage families to Stop, Pause and Reflect on how they spend their time during the holidays.
