EDITORIAL - by Keri Singleton - Sunday, November 29, 2009 - Arthur Schopenhauer is credited with saying:

All Truth Passes Through Three Phases:
First, it is Ridiculed.
Second, it is Violently opposed.
Third, it is accepted as self-evident.

George Bernard Shaw said this: “ The Reasonable man adapts himself to the world. The unreasonable man persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore all progress depends on the unreasonable man.”

I do not know who Arthur Schopenhauer was, but I can surmise he was someone who realized something that it has taken me a huge part of my life to even come close to knowing: For the most part, people do not want to hear the truth, they do not want to investigate alternative views, they do not want to step out of their comfort zone, they do not want to learn truth and accept being wrong, and they oftentimes are just plain reveling in their misery, without knowing it, so used to pain, they accept it as “normal”. Until people get tired of being miserable, sick, broke, angry, misinformed, dysfunctional, overweight, unemployed, drunk, lonely, loaded, or any other myriad of things that ignorant living will cause, trying to persuade someone that there is a better way can be a huge energy drain, and you’d be better off taking a walk, resting, reading, working, or even cleaning the toilet, and leaving people to their misery. Unfortunately, there are people who believe that their God wants them to be sick, or poor, or unemployed, or have cancer, arthritis, ADHD, allergies, bursitis, depression, lethargy, be robbed, raped, killed, or addicted, and so on, and so on.

In no religion that I ever dabbled in, or studied, did I encounter a God, or Deity that wants anything negative for his or her people. Love, happiness, health, abundance, and peace seem to be the central theme running through most religions, as far as I can see. People need to realize that most problems we face as a society today are mainly due to a lack of personal responsibility, effort, education, and informed consent regarding all things. To blame our parents, our boss, our kids, our neighbors, our friends, our spouses, or our dogs for any misfortune that befalls us, once we are on our own, has become a favorite pastime, one that has created a nation of spoiled, medicated, dazed, lazy people that have no clue about anything meaningful, and no desire to learn anything. To pump a kid full of ADHD meds, or any other, then allow that kid to eat junk food, pop, and candy to their heart’s content, followed by five or six hours of television and video games, is the norm for far too many families. Kids and teenagers that used to be labeled creative, and full of energy and enthusiasm and ideas, are now too often called disruptive, ADHD, hyperactive, or ADD. A pill is given, often times it is a hideous concoction made with amphetamines, amphetamines with many side effects that hardly seem worth making junior sit still in class because he is so full of chemicals from the processed food he lives on, and the caffeine he thrives on, and the fast food he is allowed to eat freely, as if it were health food.

There are a thousand issues to discuss, and I relish and appreciate the chance to be a source of information regarding things that many people never think about. Alternative medicine would ask the parent of a child considered so “unruly he needs a pill”, questions about his diet, especially regarding processed foods, caffeine, junk food, and fast foods. They would be asked many questions that conventional doctors rarely ask, regarding such things as personal care products, home air quality, and stress levels. There are many herbs and vitamins that assist in such things as attention span, allergies, concentration, and mental alertness. Unfortunately, most people live their lives way below their full potential, and unless someone is told there is another way, they have no way of knowing. So they pump themselves up with medicines that oftentimes lead to more medicines.

The thing I am challenging people to do is research. Research what is in the pill, or shot, or vaccine that you are about to take, or give to your children. Back when life was much different, to say the least, my ignorance in regards to medication almost got me killed. The side effects can be devastating, and long term. The degree to which some doctors will go to keep a patient on the latest, hottest, or most expensive pill, regardless of side effects, was evident when, after returning home from being hospitalized and given dialysis downstate for kidney failure brought on by a medication, my doctor at the time said to me, “Well, we will have to lower the dose.” I’m sorry, how about, “Let’s never put you on that medication again.” Even in my then ignorant state, I knew enough to refuse that particular medication. Believe me, I was subsequently used as a guinea pig for the latest, greatest, oldest, best, worst, least effective, so called most effective medications that some chemist could have ever been ordered to mix up.

If you are on a medication, any medication, and it is not working, or giving strange or bothersome side effects, that is a CLUE from your body that something unnatural is trying to invade your precious human anatomy, and your immune system is fighting it off. There are a million reasons why I would go on the record, here and through my autobiography, proclaiming what pharmaceuticals never did for me, and the damage they caused; the main one being my Mom. Had I known then what I know now, I feel deep inside that I could have helped her, or at least gotten her to alternative doctors who look at the cause of illness, and treat that, instead of treating symptoms, as conventional doctors mostly do. She died of heart failure, brought on, I’m sure, by pharmaceutical overload. The cigarettes that she quit twenty years too late caused the lung damage that was made worse by the years of steroid inhalers and other medications that were heaped on other medications to counteract medications that were given to counteract other medications, given to mask symptoms in the first place. Amazing things are being done overseas in regards to alternative therapies, and some places here as well; all you need is the knowledge and willingness to seek them out. There are therapies so cheap and easy to obtain that the pharmaceutical companies could be seriously crippled, if not completely disabled, if those treatments went mainstream.

Do not misunderstand me; medication, and conventional medicine have their place and time. Lives are saved every day with medications, and conventional medicine. The point I am trying to make is that while people will not be persuaded to investigate anything they do not want to; in my mind, to have genuinely helpful knowledge and not share it is the biggest tragedy one can suffer. Alternative views are not for everyone, and not everyone will agree with me, a point I well understand, and accept. In light of my new found health and well being, in spite of all that may be going on around me, negative or positive, there is nothing more important for me to do than to inform, at the risk of being open to ridicule if necessary, and keep on informing. There are many books out today regarding any subject you might want to pursue, and many of them are good. There are many conventional doctors who will tell you their way is right, and natural health is quackery. People only know what they are told or taught. Everyone has an opinion, and that I respect, but no one can deny the truth. In regards to health, the biggest issues can have the simplest cures. A lot of health issues are caused by food, and many people are allergic to foods they have eaten all their lives, not knowing why they have this or that symptom, running to doctors, continuing the cycle of symptom treatment, instead of causes.

I believe health is our greatest treasure, and people have been taught to accept way too quickly, in many cases, the word of conventional doctors, without any research on the other side, holistic medicine. If someone were treating a patient without pharmaceutical influence, such as holistic doctors, and some D.O.’s, it would seem to me, in all common sense, that the patient would get healthier, seeing as how they are being treated for the cause of the illness. Nutrition, stress, relationships, and level of fitness play a much bigger role in health than we are being taught to know, or want to know.

If you have to take a pill to get up, go to sleep, relax, concentrate, eat, be sociable, be quiet, or relieve yourself, maybe it’s time to look at nutrition, habits, and old limiting beliefs. Maybe what you need is less meds, not more. Down in Louisiana, where I was last spring, and we resided for a time, billboards everywhere are urging people to look into ingredients in vaccines. The main billboards in my town are urging people to join the service. People can post statistics all day long, trying to instill fear and a desire to learn into people, trying to make them see, but unless someone is ready and willing to research an issue, you will be met with deaf ears. Health is something that is very easy to take for granted, until it is lost. When health is lost, people do all sorts of things to get better. Why not be proactive? Find out what’s in the products you use, the food you eat, and the medicine you take. Research, research, and more research, is the key. When all sides of an issue have been explored, from alternative views, true informed consent can be given.

There are many conventional doctors who honestly believe they are doing the best for their patients, and many truly are; however, there are far too many rushing to prescribe a pill without determining the true cause of illness, perpetuating an endless cycle that few ever stop. It is ultimately up to the individual how much information they will seek out, or accept. I am one of the lucky ones, and I know it. Not many people come back after being on as many medications as I was, and be half normal. A phone call from a man the other day reminded me where I came from. He said he was on pain meds, relaxation meds, get up meds, go to the bathroom meds, go outside meds, come in the house meds, and meds to handle anything in between. The despair in his voice was palatable as I told him some of my story, sharing how I believed anything that was told to me because after all, they were the doctors, they had the degrees. I am now the master of my own health, and well-being, so if I don’t do research, who will? Who knew that Yoga, meditation, and good nutrition work better than Valium, Vicodin, or Prevacid? Who knew that most of the products in our homes cause illness and disease?

Update: An article published this morning in www.Mercola.com, verifies information that I have known about for months, since hearing about this vaccine on short-wave radio from Europe during the summer, followed by months of steady research, and have been begging people to research on their own. It is in regards to the H1N1, or Swine Flu, vaccine. Superstar CBS reporter, Sharyl Attkisson, CBS News Correspondent and investigative reporter, broke the huge story by CBS that found H1N1 cases are not as prevalent as is being portrayed.

Dr. Mercola (www.Mercola.com), recently did an interview, taped at the CBS studio in downtown Chicago. In the interview, Ms. Attkisson said she got interested in this story after receiving tips from medical professionals. It seems the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) has stopped testing for Swine Flu, and is telling medical professionals to diagnose based on symptoms.

Sharyl said, “Research showed that of the vast majority of the presumed swine flu cases recognized by trained physicians, the vast majority were not flu at all. They weren’t swine flu or regular flu; they were some other sort of upper respiratory infection.” You can read/see the interview at mercola.com, and find for yourself much more valuable information, regarding health issues, from an alternative standpoint.

My past research has led me to sites such as www.mercola.com, www.stopthevax.com, www.JACKMCLAMB.com, and www.curezone.com, to name a few. You can find interesting articles regarding the 1976 swine flu vaccine program, and it’s related propaganda, and today’s extremely similar messages we are receiving from mass media. You can find, for yourself, statistics on how many people suffered neurological damage due to the 1976 vaccination program, receiving compensation for damages, and compare it to today’s program, where the makers of the H1N1 vaccine have been protected against any damages that may result.

The statements I make are shared by millions the world over. My conviction is this: People only know what they have been taught, or have chosen to learn. Inside each of us is a self-preservation urge that goes beyond all explanation. If you have any doubts, questions, or concerns, I urge you to do your own research, keep an open mind, learn the facts, then base your conclusions on your own inner voice, your own wisdom, your own sense of what is good for you or what is potentially bad. Who stands to gain from vaccines, the hugely over-prescribed nation; who in authority owns stock where? Have you seen the makers of the vaccine get the shot themselves, how about your doctor? Do you have total informed consent as to what’s in those vaccines, or are you blindly following, refusing to learn things that might require you to take a stand. Does anyone know who Jane Burgermeister (www.JaneBurgermeister.com) is, and why she is working tirelessly for her cause?

Knowledge is power. Having the knowledge and not sharing it, does not make one more powerful, it makes him selfish. Thomas Jefferson said: “Educate and inform the whole mass of the people…..They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our unity.”

Please go have a productive, meaningful day, seek out truth, and truth seekers, knowledge is power, don’t be misled, and have the facts. Thank you…………..
