Friends of the MMHP to Hold Final Float Work Bee Tuesday

IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, November 30, 2009 - The Jack Frost Parade is this Friday at 6:00 PM! Tomorrow night is Friends of the Miners Memorial Heritage Park (MMHP) final work bee for their float. The Friends of the MMHP urges volunteers to  join them in creating their float. Any help offered will be appreciated. Volunteers will continue painting signs and doing the finishing touches on the headframe. The Friends are also hoping to get it on the trailer. The headframe was stained last week and it looks good!

The Friends will meet tomorrow (Tuesday, December 1st) at 5:30 PM for the work bee at the heated work garage of David Suutala. To get there from Ironwood, drive west on Highway 2 for about 2.5 miles past the Hwy 51/Hwy 2 overpass. The driveway is on the left. David's place is 1 mile before the Kimball Inn. A light and sign will direct you to the driveway.

Everyone is welcome to dress up as a miner and walk in the parade. If you were a miner (at any mine), we would especially love to have you walk or ride on the float. If you have any mining gear that you could lend us, we would appreciate it. If you would like to be in the parade, contact Monie Shackleford (by e-mail ramonaeb@yahoo.com
or phone (906) 932-3779) so the Friends will know how many walkers will be in the parade. It looks like it will be a snowy parade after all!
