Fire Damages Automobile on Smith Street

IRONWOOD, MI - Friday, November 13, 2009 - Just before 8:00 PM last night, area firefighters were summoned to an automobile fire on Smith Street. Ironwood Public Safety Officers and Ironwood Volunteer Firefighters arrived so quickly that they were able to prevent the car from becoming engulfed. It appears the fire originated either in the trunk or in the back seat of the vehicle. The rear end of the car was up on jack stands when the fire began. The incident is under investigation.
