Health Food Store Features Colossal Onions, Select Beers, Ales & Wines
IRONWOOD, MI - Friday, October 09, 2009 - Eva Smith-Furgason, manager of Northwind Nature Foods Co-op, located at 116 South Suffolk in Downtown Ironwood, has some mighty big onions and she's very proud of them. The store now features jumbo sweet Spanish and red onions grown by John and Dorthy L. of Park Falls, Wisconsin. The onions are grown naturally with kelp and other natural fertilizers. The Co-op sells these colossal gems for 59¢ per pound. The photo featured in this article shows the relative difference in size between a regular onion, a U.S. penny, and the new jumbo onions. Also new to the Co-op is a good selection of beers and wines, including South Shore, Guinness, and Keweenaw beers and ales; and St. Julian, Gekkeikan, Leelanau, and Grand Traverse wines.
