19 Year Old Charged with Two Felonies Following IPSD Investigation

IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, October 19, 2009 - A 19 year old Ironwood man is in jail following an incident in the City of Ironwood on Thursday evening.

A Houk Street resident called 911 at approximately 11:20 PM to report that two people wearing ski masks entered his residence and demanded money. An altercation took place which resulted in the resident being assaulted with a knife before the assailants left the scene on foot. The victim was taken to Grand View Hospital by friends and was later transferred to a hospital in Woodruff, Wisconsin.

An investigation was conducted by the Ironwood Public Safety Department with some assistance by the Hurley Police Department. At approximately 5:00 AM on Friday morning, IPSD officers arrested the suspect who was then lodged at the Gogebic County Jail.

On Friday, the suspect was charged with one count of Home Invasion-1st degree and one count of Assault With A Dangerous Weapon, both felonies. Bond was set at $5000 cash.

Additional arrests are pending in the case.
