Jacquart Fabric Products Holds First of Four Job Fairs

IRONWOOD, MI - Friday, October 23, 2009 - On Wednesday Jacquart Fabric Products (JFP) conducted a job fair that gave prospective employees an opportunity to learn a little about the company its operations. A good crowd braved the cold and rain to attend the fair.

Kari "KJ" Jacquart, Division Manager and Human Resources Director for the company, gave a brief introduction in the break room of the JPF II building. Each of the fair participants received a packet that contained information about the company and a job application.

Following the introduction, Jacquart took the group on a tour of the facility. As the crowd walked through the production plant, Jacquart explained the various jobs involved and pointed out some very interesting facts about the company, the wide variety of products they manufacture, and the people who purchase their products. In the beginning the majority of products the company manufactured were for Foster and Smith, a pet supply company headquartered in Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Through the years JFP has manufactured items for a wide variety customers including Harley Davidson.

Besides making items for other vendors, JFP has several of their own product lines including the Stormy Kromer hats and apparel; Paus pet products; and Stone Legacy protective cases.

Following the tour, the group gathered again in the break room. According to Jacquart, the company is aggressively seeking government contracts to make military uniforms and other apparel. If they are successful in their quest, production will need to be stepped up, and new employment opportunities will be created.

Fair participants who wanted to try out the sewing machines were given a chance to do so. Becky Maki, Assistant Production Supervisor, brought several of the group back onto the production floor and helped them test out the equipment.

Once back at the break room, Freddy Pina, Vice President of Operations, gave a brief presentation. He explained that JFP proudly produces high quality goods, and he stressed the fact that conscientious employees with a good work ethics are necessary to maintain quality production. Jacquart explained that the company provides training for their employees and they encourage workers to learn multiple operations.
