Blackjack Ski Resort Scheduled to Open for the 09/10 Season

BESSEMER, MI - Monday, September 14, 2009 - The sale of Blackjack Ski Resort has been underway since July and is currently still moving forward. All parties involved believe a sale is extremely likely and foresee a closing sometime this fall. If everything goes as planned, the hill will be purchased by an individual from Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and then leased and operated by Rick Schmitz, owner and operator of Nordic Mountain Ski Area in Central Wisconsin.

Schmitz has many big plans for Blackjack, including returning the ski area to 7 days a week operation, the addition of glade trails, an online ticketing and reservation system, expanded terrain parks, vastly increased marketing efforts, lodge improvements, and season passes starting as low at $199 per person. The new management expects passes to be available online no later than October 15th.
