City Commission Candidate Forum Deadline Moved to October 5th

IRONWOOD, MI - Tuesday, September 29, 2009 - In order to better accommodate the candidates for Ironwood's City Commission, we have decided to extend the deadline for our first candidate forum until Monday, October 5, 2009.

To date, ten of the twelve candidates running in the November 3rd election have agreed to participate in our forum. Bob Burchell (incumbent); Joe Cayer; Kim Corcoran; Louise Demasi; George Goerig; Ken Jacobson; Gemma Lamb (incumbent); William D. Lucius; Rick Semo and Ron Taylor have either indicated that they will be participating or have already returned their questionnaires. Incumbents Tom Laabs and Suzanne Toth have yet to contact us.

On Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, the Chronicle will post the candidates' answers to our readers' questions verbatim -- without any editorial comments -- to allow area voters a chance to objectively evaluate the candidates. Each of the candidates will provide a brief background to introduce themselves, and in addition to the questions asked in our survey, they will provide an opening and closing statement.
