Setting the Record Straight
IRONWOOD, MI - Wednesday, September 30, 2009 - This afternoon this reporter covered the Gogebic County Enhanced 911 Meeting. Prior to the meeting I talked with Tom Gerovac, Gogebic County Commissioner, and he pointed out to me that the Gogebic County Board has never involved themselves with the Ironwood Township/Ironwood water main controversy. John Kasieta told the City Commission Monday night that the County should pay for the City's new 16" water main since the County Board wanted to "put their nose into" the matter. Also, Kasieta and others have claimed that the existing water main was an inch and a quarter to an inch and a half thick. The photos above show an actual piece of cast iron water main. The piece shown in the photo is actually the thickest part of the pipe. It's only 11/16" thick. |
