April 2010 Gogebic Community College Board of Trustees

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI - Wednesday, April 28, 2010 - The newest additions to Gogebic Community College’s Athletics Department were introduced to the GCC Board of Trustees at its regular meeting. Coach Will Andresen introduced the Cross Country Running and Nordic Skiing Teams that held their inaugural year of competition this past year. While both teams did well in their first year of competition, Andresen reports that recruiting looks positive to add to this core group of athletes for next year.
In other action, the Board approved:
- the low bid for snowplowing services for a three year contract to Jake’s Excavating and Landscaping of Ironwood, Michigan
- the low bid for lawn care service for three years to Harma’s Lawn Service of Hurley, Wisconsin
- the extension of a contract with the Michigan Policy Leadership Group, a consulting firm from Lansing that the college has contracted with for a number of years, to help keep abreast of state matters regarding community college funding and legislation, as well as assisting the college in drafting comments for, advocating GCC’s position to state government entities, and monitoring and informing GCC on state proceedings that are of interest to the college.
- the authorization for the college to solicit requests for proposals on the redesign of the college’s web page.
- the faculty appointments for the 2010-11 academic year.
- the authorization to proceed with posting and recruiting for a part-time affiliated instructional position in the Business Division.
