Gogebic Community College Foundation Hosts Inaugural ‘Taste of Gogebic Range’

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI - Friday, April 9, 2010 - The Gogebic Community College Foundation is hosting the first ‘Taste of the Gogebic Range’ on Monday, April 19, 2010 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the David G. Lindquist Student Center. This event will feature samplings and offerings of food and beverages from area restaurants, businesses and caterers.

According to Charlene Newhouse, Gogebic Community College Foundation Vice President and Special Events Committee member, “We are excited about hosting this event because it’s the first of its kind in our area, and it gives our local businesses an opportunity to highlight their products. The event is less formal than a reception with attendees free to come and go as they please.”

In addition to the delicious samples being offered, the Foundation will offer light hors d’oeuvres, coffee, tea, and punch. Beer and wine will be available for purchase to complement the food.

There will be two contests going on during the event. The ‘Tasters’ Choice Award’ will be voted on by the attendees, and the ‘Best of Show Award’ will be decided by special judges. Booths will be judged on overall display, presentation of food samples, and taste. Trophies will be awarded at the end of the event that night.

Tickets are by advance purchase only, at a cost of $20 per person. There will be no ticket sales at the door. Contact the GCC Foundation Office at 932-4231, ext. 202 to reserve your tickets today. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Foundation. The Gogebic Community College Foundation was established in 1977 as a non-profit corporation and exists solely for the support and development of the College and its mission.
