GCC Foundation Elects New Officers

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI - Monday, August 23, 2010 - The Gogebic Community College Foundation elected its new officers beginning July 1, 2010 for two-year terms. Charlene Newhouse was elected as the new Foundation President, John Siira as Vice-President and Erik Guenard remains as Treasurer. Milakovich thanked the Foundation and its officers for all their support and dedication during his term as President. Newhouse chaired the meeting and recognized Milakovich for the great job he did as President for the last two years. The GCC Foundation continues to move forward with new events planned to raise additional monies for scholarships and campus improvements. The next GCC Foundation event will be the first annual Scholarship Scramble scheduled for September 11, 2010 at the Lac Vieux Resort and Casino Golf Course in Watersmeet. The annual ‘Celebration of Achievements’ banquet is scheduled for October 21, 2010 and will recognize a distinguished alumni, distinguished faculty member and outstanding coach. The mission of the GCC Foundation is to promote, encourage and aid Gogebic Community College in its development of educational programs and its expansion of facilities. With support from the community, the Foundation is able to work in partnership with the College Administration to provide greater opportunities that not only benefit the current students, but the region as a whole.
