Logging Congress 2011 – Destination Delta
ESCANABA, MI - Wednesday, August 4, 2010 - Delta County will again showcase the best of the forestry industry. Delta County and the UP State Fairground have been named the choice destination for Logging Congress 2011 by the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association and the Delta County Commerce Center. The fairground, which last hosted the event in 2009, has been selected as the site of the 66th Annual Lake States Logging Congress. The three day event, one of the most prestigious logging shows in the nation, will be held September 8, 9 and 10, 2011. “We are delighted with this news,” said Vickie Micheau, executive director of the Delta County Area Chamber of Commerce. “The proposal that was submitted to the GLTPA was the work of many organizations including the UP State Fairgrounds, City of Escanaba and the Downtown Development Authority, Community Foundation for Delta County and local media. Everyone involved understands the significant economic impact of this event and worked hard to offer a proposal that the event organizers could not refuse.” Steve Masters, executive director of the Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors, noted that it’s not only lodging properties that benefit during events like the Logging Congress. While people are spending their days on the Bays, they are eating in restaurants, conducting business with local merchants and experiencing all the best Delta County has to offer. The Lake States Logging Congress is the annual meeting of the Great Lakes Timber Professionals Association. It is one of the largest tradeshows in the Midwest, showcasing equipment and education for those in the industry, and attracts 10,000 to 30,000 visitors who are interested or involved in all phases of the logging industry.
