3rd Annual Shop With A Cop Bowl-Off a Success

HURLEY, WI - Thursday, December 9, 2010 - The 3rd Annual Shop With A Cop Bowl-Off was held on Saturday November 6th, 2010 at the Hurley American Legion Post #58 Bowling Lanes.

The event was sponsored by the Ojibway Correctional Facilty Employee Club and the American Legion Lanes. A total of eighteen 4-person teams participated in the event which was bowled in a 9-pin No Tap format. Claiming the title this year was Norb's Auto of Ironwood, MI. Team members Jeff Behrendt, Marc Behrendt, Matt King, and Scott DeRosso rolled a team series of 2927 for the win.

A total of $1215 was raised during the event including team entry fees, shoe rentals, and the 50/50 raffle. Another $150 was raised from a bowling ball raffle sponsored by the Legion Lanes, Storm Bowling, and Striking Edge Pro Shop. 100% of the funds were delivered to 99.7 "The Storm" to be used in this year's Shop With A Cop program which was held on Saturday, December 4th. Many local businesses donated door prizes for the event which went out to over half of the participants.

Those donating were The Dawghouse, The Beer Barrel, Norrie Club, Super One Foods, Bessemer American Legion Post #27, Norb's Auto, Angelo's Pizza, Gogebic Range Bank, Chief Oil, Rossi Wear, Range Beverage, the Pisani Company and Interstate Batteries of the U.P.

"As the event organizer for the last three years, I can say this is the best turnout we have had to date and the largest amount of money we have raised for the Shop With A Cop program. Marc Behrendt also assisted me in running this year's fundraiser." said event organizer Steve Lehto, Jr.
