These are a few of the things we’ve been learning about in music class: ABA SONG FORM (The structure of music. A=chorus, B=verse, A=chorus, etc.); The “HOOK” (the part of the song that makes you like and remember the song so you sing it over and over. Sometimes you just can’t get it out of your head! For example: “I gotta feelin’, that tonight’s gonna be a good night…); MELODY SHAPES (The rise and fall of the melody or main tune of a piece of music.); FRANZ JOSEPH HAYDN’S “SURPRISE SYMPHONY” (Composed by Haydn to keep a sleepy prince awake during their performance.); Pitch (high and low sounds); Voice tones (speaking, whispering, shouting, singing); Voice placement (head voice for high pitches, chest voice for low pitches); Music reading concepts (treble and bass clef, the sign, repeats, first and second endings, coda [means ‘ending’ in Italian]); Dynamics (loud and soft of music); and of course, THE BEAT.
