Pat O'Donnell Civic Center Repays Debt to the City

IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI - by Keri Singleton - Sunday, February 21, 2010 - Members of the Pat O'Donnell Civic Center Board presented Mayor Bob Burchell and Ironwood City Commission members with at check for $25,000 Saturday. The check represents repayment of the Center's debt to the City.

Thanks to the dilligent efforts of the Civic Center Board members (both past and present); the combined efforts of volunteers, area skating and hockey clubs, and local businesses; and the renewal of the Civic Center millage by Ironwood taxpayers, the Center is now free of debt to the City.

Previous and current Board members have rolled up their sleeves and invested a lot of sweat equity into the Center. The Center's payroll was significantly reduced when the Board elected to change operations to mostly volunteer positions.

City Commissioners and media were treated to a tour of the facility. (See photos below.)
