City Commission to Consider Library Millage Ballot Proposal Monday
IRONWOOD, MI - Friday, January 22, 2010 - The Agenda for the Regular Ironwood City Commission Meeting for Monday, January 25, 2010 was released today. The meeting will begin at 5:15 PM with a Board of Zoning Appeals Public Hearing. The Regular Meeting will begin at 5:30 in the Commission Chambers on the second floor of the Ironwood Memorial Building. According to information received by the Chronicle, the BOZA Public Hearing is being held to hear comment on a Dimensional Variance request from Ironwood Area Schools, 650 West Ayer Street (Parcel #27-52-22-277-010) to allow a new addition onto the existing school and also allow a building to encroach on the side lot line setback by 4 feet. The agenda for the hearing is as follows: (1) Call Board of Zoning Appeals to Order; (2) Recording of the Roll; (3) Open Public Hearing; (4) Public Hearing; (5) Close Public Hearing; (4) Consider Action on the Ironwood Area School Dimensional Variance request; and (7) Adjourn Board of Zoning Appeals. RESOLUTION #10-002 CITY OF IRONWOOD COUNTY OF GOGEBIC, STATE OF MICHIGAN RESOLUTION SUBMITTING BALLOT PROPOSAL At a Regular meeting of the City Commission of the City of Ironwood, County of Gogebic, State of Michigan, held on the 25 th day of January, 2010, in the CommissionChambers at 5:30 P.M. prevailing Central Time. PRESENT: _______________________________________________________ _______________________________________________________ ABSENT: _______________________________________________________ WHEREAS, the City Commission (the “Commission”) of the City of Ironwood, County of Gogebic, State of Michigan (the “City”), has determined that it is in the best interests of the residents and property owners of the City that the City improve, renovate, equip and reequip the Ironwood Carnegie Library (the “Library Improvements”); AND WHEREAS, the Library Improvements, as more fully described in the form of the ballot proposal attached to this Resolution as Exhibit A (the “Library Proposal”), are estimated to cost not to exceed $950,000 and issue the City’s general obligation bonds for the purpose of paying the costs of the Library Improvements; AND WHEREAS, it is necessary to submit the Library Proposal to the qualified electors of the City for a vote. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: 1. The proposal set forth below Exhibit A shall be submitted to a vote of the qualified electors of the City of Ironwood, County of Gogebic, State of Michigan, at the School Election to be held on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 (the “School Election”). The wording of the Library Proposal, in the form attached to this Resolution as Exhibit A, is hereby certified to the City Clerk for submission to the City’s electors at the General Election. The City Clerk is hereby directed to file this Resolution with the County Clerk of the County of Gogebic, Michigan, by no later than February 23, 2010. 2. The County Clerk is directed to publish notice of last day of registration at least once by no later than April 5, 2010, in a newspaper published or of general circulation in the City.
