Grand View Health System Positioning for the Future< IRONWOOD, MI - Saturday, January 30, 2010 - Grand View Health System, like all health care organizations, is considering strategies that will provide long-term sustainability in this very challenging economic environment. It is evident that most health care facilities throughout Michigan are looking at how to align services and provide better access in developing plans for delivering quality care in the future. Much of this is being driven by the current economic factors in our state, along with reductions in reimbursements coupled with under insured and uninsured patients. At this time, the Board of Directors of Grand View Health System are working with a consultant from Wipfli Associates to help them determine if an affiliation would be beneficial. “This is in the very early stages and we have not identified a partner,” says Wayne Nasi, Grand View Health System Board Chairman. “Over the next several months, administration and the board will be doing much due diligence to determine if this is a step we want to take. We intend to keep the community informed and that’s why we are making this announcement while still in the discussion stage.” According to Carol Goffnett, Grand View Health System CEO, “For many years Grand View has had partnerships with other health systems that gave us the opportunity to offer expanded services and specialty coverage - Marquette General Health System, St. Mary’s of Duluth, and Marshfield Clinic. Now we are looking at the possibility of a more in-depth partnership to assure that quality health care will continue to be available for this community.” “We fully recognize the importance of maintaining a viable, strong health care system in our community,” said Nasi. “Grand View is an integral part of this community, and it’s our responsibility to see that it continues to be here to serve our community.” Grand View Health System is a 25-bed critical access hospital with two medical clinics, surgical center, eye center, walk-in clinic, therapy, home health and home care division. |
