Grand View Health System Auxiliary Donates Funds for Equipment
Pictured with the new air compressor (from left to right) are Grand View Health System Maintenance Department staff members, Rich Huotari and Joe Weickert. IRONWOOD, MI - Friday, July 30, 2010 - As part of their continued support, the Grand View Health System Auxiliary has recently donated funds for the health system to purchase a new air compressor, as well as a new table saw. These pieces of equipment will have a positive effect on the Grand View Health Systems Maintenance team’s ability to take care of repairs and do preventative maintenance internally. This will reduce the time and costs associated with maintenance of vehicles, equipment, and the health system’s facilities. The air compressor unit has a 2-stage, 7.5 horsepower engine, with a 60 gallon tank that is capable of safely operating at 175 PSI. This unit will be used to operate pneumatic equipment such as impact guns and wrenches, which will allow the maintenance team to change tires on their vehicles, which include: trucks, lawn mowers, tractors, front-end loaders, and other Grand View Health System vehicles. The air compressor will enable the maintenance team to sandblast and paint items, extending the service life of equipment and facilities. It can also be used to power various cutting, drilling, grinding, sanding, and chiseling equipment; making for a very versatile power supply source. The new air compressor will also be key in keeping the fleet vehicles and equipment tire’s properly inflated, maximizing their safety and fuel efficiency, while extending tire life. The table saw will allow for more internal furniture repairs, increasing the service life of tables, chairs, cabinets, and the facilities. The table saw will also be utilized for making molds and forms in building projects that require concrete work and repairs. These new pieces of equipment are only a small part of the overall generous donations that the Grand View Health System Auxiliary group has made in the recent past. Over the past two years, the Auxiliary has donated funding for the addition of a patient walk way that connected the Grand View Ironwood Clinic and Urgent Care Clinic to the hospital. This addition allows patients to have a dry, comfortable, and safe walk between the facilities within Grand View Health System. The walkway has been very well received and appreciated by the patients and staff of Grand View Health System.
