2010 Old Depot Classic, Custom & Antique Auto Show Results Told
John and Joshua Kallas, Hurley, admire Don Peterson’s homemade pickup truck, which made its first appearance at the 22nd Annual Old Depot Classic, Custom & Antique Auto Show at Festival Ironwood 2010. They weren’t the only admirers, since this vehicle went home with a total of four trophies: Best in Class, President’s Choice, Kruisers’ Choice, and the coveted People’s Choice Trophy. Peterson hand constructed this vehicle out of flat sheet metal from the ground up, with final assembly and registration/licensing in 2007. IRONWOOD, MI - Thursday, July 22, 2010 - Seventy-one classic, custom and antique vehicles were on display on Lowell Street on Saturdya, July 17, for the 22nd Annual Old Depot Classic, Custom & Antique Auto Show – part of Festival Ironwood 2010. Best in Class (1st) and Outstanding in Class (2nd) trophies were awarded in twelve different classes, along with six special trophies, with trophies sponsored by area businesses and organizations. Show participants voted on the cars, with the results as follows (Best in Class listed first, followed by Outstanding in Class – more than two listed in a class means a tie for Outstanding): Class A – 0-1940 – Steve Lahti, Ironwood, 1926 Chevrolet Landau. Special trophies were awarded as follows: Longest Distance Traveled – Jerry Salhus, Bloomington, MN; Joe Zarimba Memorial Trophy (oldest vehicle in the show) – Steve Lahti, Ironwood, 1926 Chevrolet Landau. There was one special vehicle entered into this year’s show that, along with Best in Class in the Truck Class, also took the Kruisers’ Choice Trophy (Kruiser members vote on their favorite show car), President’s Choice Trophy (Kruiser president’s choice), and People’s Choice Trophy. This was the 2007 Homemade Pickup Truck built by and completed in 2007 by Don Peterson, Calumet, MI. In this show, the Klassic Kruisers Car Club members’ cars are displayed separately from the “show cars” and are not included in the People’s Choice voting. But they are voted on by the show participants for the “Participants’ Choice Trophy.” This year’s trophy went to Brian Tousignant, Ironwood, for his 1968 Plymouth GTX. The Kruisers want to thank all the area businesses that once again sponsored trophies for this year's car show.
Don Peterson, Calumet, MI went home with four trophies for his homemade pickup truck at the recent Festival Ironwood Car Show conducted by the Klassic Kruisers Car Club at the Old Depot Park.
