Road Rally Weekend Planned July 24th and 25th, 2010

WOODRUFF, WI - Tuesday, July 13, 2010 - The Milwaukee region Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) is planning a weekend of road rallies in the Wisconsin Northwoods on July 24th and 25th, 2010.

In conjunction with the Lotus Corps of Chicago, the SCCA , will run the Published Enemies Road Rally once again on Saturday, July 24th, 2010. The rally is classified as a GTA or games-type rally which will be on all paved roads and pass through parts of Vilas and Oneida Counties in Wisconsin. No previous rally experience is required to compete in the event. As the name suggests, the event has a gangster theme capitalizing on the gangster history of the Northwoods.

The rally will start at 10:00 AM Brandy Lake Park in Woodruff, Wisconsin and finish around 5:30 PM at Little Bohemia in Manitowish Waters, the site of the famous shootout. It will consist of teams of two or more people (a driver and a navigator and passengers), that will travel along a route that will cover more than 100 miles of paved back roads at legal speeds. Along the way the teams will be asked to answer questions whose answers will be based on the road signs encountered along the rally route. Some of the answers to the questions are straightforward while the answers to other questions will require some thought or at least a sense of humor. The winners are the teams with the most points at the end of the rally. In keeping with the gangster theme, teams are encouraged to show up in gangster regalia and will have 10 points added to their score for doing so.

A second road rally; Hardwood Forest Getaway will be held on Sunday, July 25, 2010. This rally will start at 9:00 AM from Brandy Lake Park in Woodruff and finish in Minocqua late afternoon. This rally will be a classic time Time-Speed-Distance rally where you will need to follow a route in a fixed time period.

For both rallies, each team needs to only bring a watch that can be set to match rally time, a pencil, and a calculator. Although there will be a number of classic and sports car enthusiasts entered you don’t need a sports car to compete as the family car will do. The rallies promise to be a fun and relaxing way to spend an afternoon in Wisconsin’s Northwoods.

Any parents planning on having minors in the car will need to sign a Minor Waiver Form. The form must be signed by both parents and guardians of the minor. If only one parent/guardian is attending the event then it will have to be signed beforehand, notarized and brought to the rally.
