The Ironwood Theatre Proudly Presents Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre
“Sleeping Beauty Performances”IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, July 5, 2010 - The Golden Age of Hollywood comes to life this weekend, when scores of local young people team up with two professional actors to present the Prairie Fire Children’s Theatre original musical adaption of Sleeping Beauty. Performances take place at the historic Ironwood Theatre on Friday, July 9 at 7:00 PM. and on Saturday, July 10 at 2:00 PM. This unique version plays out on a movie set where everything seems to go wrong. It’s lights out for the movie studio unless Sleeping Beauty can wake up and save the picture. The local cast features numerous young actors from the Gogebic Area, ages 7-17 years of age. The try-outs for the 74 local acting positions took place at 9:00 AM this morning at the Ironwood Theatre, with rehearsals Tuesday through Thursday and dress rehearsal on Friday, followed by performances. The show was written by PFCT Associate Director Megan K. Pence and veteran tour actor Daniel L. Stock. Prairie Fire Children’s professionals Katie Krause and Peter W. Hargarten will co-direct this production. Katie earned her degree in musical theatre from Point Park University in Pittsburgh. Originally from Madison, Wisconsin, Katie first toured for Prairie Fire in 2007 in “Alice and Wonderland” and “Snow White”. She also toured in PFCT’s “Tom Sawyer” and “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” in the spring of 2010. Before her return to Prairie Fire, Katie worked for the New York Kids Club, a premier early enrichment program in Manhattan. She will entertain audiences this weekend as Coco Love in PFCT’s “Sleeping Beauty”. Co-directing with Katie will be Peter Hargarten. Peter comes to us from Stevens Point, Wisconsin, where he is working on his Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in acting at the University of Wisconsin. Originally from Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, he recently conducted and acting workshop at a local middle school. He will entertain audiences this weekend as the bumbling hypnotist in PFCT’s “Sleeping Beauty”. Tickets for both performances will be available at the door in the Ironwood Theatre on the day of the show.
