Grand View Announces Walk Michigan Event
IRONWOOD, MI - Saturday, July 17, 2010 — Grand View Health System is partnering with the Wellness Council of the Upper Peninsula and the Friends of the Miner’s Memorial Heritage Park to offer the area’s third annual Walk Michigan event. The free community walk will be held on Thursday July 22 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the proposed Miner’s Memorial Heritage Park site in Ironwood. Designated meeting spot will be the city bus garage on Ayer Street. It is non-competitive, and it is open to all ages of walkers. Participants don’t need to pre-register, just show up and walk anytime between the hours listed. Guided tours will be provided and participants will enjoy the scenic trails that the caves have to offer. Those who walk one mile or greater, will have a chance to win a 4-day 3-night trip for two to Mackinac Island to participate in the Labor Day Bridge Walk with the governor and thousands of other walking enthusiasts. The Walk Michigan program was organized to provide residents with opportunities to improve their health and fitness while also encouraging them to enjoy the recreational facilities and park resources provided in local communities. Join us for a walk on the trails, refreshments and a chance to win some great prizes.
