Saturday Evening Program at Black River Harbor

IRONWOOD, MI - Tuesday, June 8, 2010 -  The Bessemer Ranger District is pleased to announce the return of "Evening Campfire" programs at the Black River Harbor Pavilion! The first program will be Saturday, June 12, from 8:00 PM – 9:00 PM (CST). It will feature renowned eagle researchers from the US Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station and Clemson University.

The discussion will include a demonstration of the techniques used to capture and band eagle chicks, and a slideshow of actual captures and research findings. The primary focus of the study is the effect of pollutants on eagle populations and similarly, what bald eagles and their sea eagle cousins can tell us about overall ecological health and global climate changes.

The event is FREE, open to the public, and suitable for all ages. Attendees should bring their own snacks and drinks; water and restrooms are available. For more information, contact Melanie Fullman, mfullman@fs.fed.us; 906-932-1330 x539.
