FMMHP to Present New Park Concept at Tonight's Parks & Rec Meeting
File Photo - February 4, 2009 IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, June 7, 2010 - The Friends of the Miners' Memorial Heritage Park (FMMHP) group will be presenting an updated park plan at tonight's Park and Recreation Committee meeting. The meeting will be held on the second floor of the Memorial Building beginning at 6:00 PM TONIGHT, either in the Community Development Conference Room or the Womens' Club Room. In February 2010 the City Commission requested that the FMMHP work with members of the Park and Rec Committee to update the park plan. Therefore, a planning committee was formed from the two groups and it has been meeting regularly since February. It is our hope that Parks and Recreation will forward their recommendation for the MMHP as presented to the City Commission for their consideration. Thank you for your support. We hope you can be present to see the latest proposal for your park! Pictured in the photo above is Ken Hazel, one of the originators of the Memorial Park concept, standing by a map he created showing a proposed trail system that included the Miners' Memorial Heritage Park.
