Gogebic Community College Board of Trustees Special Meeting
IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI - Thursday, June 17, 2010 - At last night’s special meeting, the Gogebic Community College Board of Trustees accepted the retirement requests of five faculty and staff members resulting from the recently enacted revisions to the Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System. Ms. Rita Klotter, Cosmetology Instructor (8.5 years); Mr. Paul Semmerling, Computer-aided Drafting and Design Instructor (35.5 years); and Ms. Jane Sobolewski, Business Instructor (26 years); will all be retiring effective July 1 under the new system. The search for replacement instructors will begin immediately. Ms. Patty King, Payroll Clerk (21 years), and Ms. Deb Pletcher, Math Instructor (21 years), were granted one-year extensions, making their retirements effective September 1, 2011 and August 16, 2011, respectively. These searches will commence at a later date. These five employees represent a total of 112 years of excellent dedicated service to GCC. The Board also set their regular meeting dates for the next two years: the last Tuesday of each month at 4:30 PM in Room B22 of the Solin Center for Business Education on the GCC campus, except for the December meetings which will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 and Tuesday, December 20, 2011. The election of officers was postponed and current Board officers were appointed to serve accordingly in the interim until the July meeting.
