Two Range Area Deaf Club Members Celebrate Birthdays Saturday
Photos by Stacy Leasure IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, June 7, 2010 - The Range Area Deaf Club's June meeting was a special one. Members June Popko, Mercer, and Kurt Leasure, Ironwood, (both pictured above) celebrated their birthdays. The meeting was held in the Community Center of the Pioneer Park Apartment Building to allow the groups oldest member, Inez Sisko, 89 years of age, to attend. Inez is recovering from a recent illness and the Club members decided to move the meeting to her apartment building to make it easier for her to attend. The Club would like to that the staff and management of the Pioneer Park Apartment Building for allowing them to hold the meeting there. Also attending the meeting were: Debbie Ritchie, John Ranta, Matthew Leasure Sr., Stacy Leasure, Samantha Leasure, Matthew Leasure Jr., Bobby Fowler, Robert Mehling, Carol Leppala-Mehling, and Jim Albert, Director of Deaf Services of America (DSA). Members were treated to pizza, snacks, birthday cake, and soda. DSA partially sponsored the event. Members of the Club are considering a trip to Duluth for the 4th of July. In the past, this was a tradition for the Deaf Club. Plans for the trip will be finalized shortly and members will be notified.
