Relay for Life of Gogebic Range to Hold Team Captain Meetings

IRONWOOD, MI - Sunday, March 28, 2010 - The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Gogebic Range is holding a team captain’s meeting at the Comfort Inn in Ironwood on Monday, March 29, at 6:30 PM. Committee members will meet at 5:30 PM. Teams currently registered for the Relay for Life event or anyone interested in learning more about participating in the event should attend.

Opening ceremonies for this year’s Relay for Life will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday June 11, 2010 at the Gogebic Community College in Ironwood. Gogebic Range theme will be ‘Cancer Takes a Holiday’, so come and help us celebrate, remember and fight back against cancer! This is the fourteenth year the event has been held in our community.

Relay for Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature event that raises funds and awareness of cancer research and patient programs. For 24 hours, teams of family, friends and co-workers camp out, each taking turns walking on the track. Each team is asked to have a representative on the track at all times, a reminder that cancer never sleeps.

Other team captain meetings are scheduled for April 15, May 5, and May 25 at 6:30 PM at the Comfort Inn in Ironwood. This year donations can be made to this local Relay for Life event and participants can start or join a team by visiting www.relayforlife.org/gogebiccountymi or for more information call Committee Chair, Todd Haeger at (715) 360-6377.
