Entertainment Line up Includes Lowell Street Band at Gogebic Range Relay for Life
IRONWOOD, MI - by Geneva Smiles - Sunday, May 23, 2010 - The Gogebic Range will be Relaying to the theme ‘Cancer Takes a Holiday’ for 24 hours, so come and help us fight back against cancer and help find a cure by reaching our fundraising goal of $45,000. This is the fourteenth year the event has been held in our community. Opening ceremonies for this year’s Relay for Life will begin at 1:00 PM on Friday, June 11th at the Gogebic Community College in Ironwood. The Gogebic Range Relay is one of 5,100 events held nationwide. The committee is excited to announce some of the many entertainment and activities for this year’s Relay. All cancer survivors are invited to attend our ceremonies, and register between 3:00 PM and 5:30 PM. The Survivors and Caregiver’s laps will be between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Just to name a few in our line up of entertainment, Marty’s Goldenaires will be performing Friday evening after the survivor speakers and lap and caregiver’s lap. The luminary ceremony will begin at dusk. A Mr. Relay contest will be held once again and Remax is bringing their hot-air ballooning for on-site rides by donation, weather permitting. In addition, Rock Foundation Ministries band will be rocking throughout the night. A special show by the local favorites The Lowell Street Band will take place Friday night, playing for donations for the Relay. Activities for the kids include wagon rides up Mt. Zion, games at the booths, and Easter Egg Hunt Saturday morning and more! An Italian dinner sponsored by the Iron Nugget will be held at GCC Friday evening from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Walk with your family and friends around the track, and remember those who lost their battle with cancer, and honor those who are still with us today. Enjoy some great food and entertainment while supporting a great cause that has touched so many lives. The Relay Committee is holding the final team captain’s meeting on Tuesday May 25 at 6:30 PM at the Comfort Inn in Ironwood.
