Friends of the MMHP Seek Donations for Miner's ScholarshipAnnounce Next Meeting
IRONWOOD, MI - by Lily Palmer - Friday, May 21, 2010 - The Friends of the MMHP are looking to honor the area's mining heritage through donations to the Miners' Scholarship. For a second year the Friends of the MMHP are hoping to award the Miners' scholarship to a deserving Luther L. Wright High School student who has a family history related to the mining industry. Last year our members donated funds for a $500 scholarship in less than two weeks! This year we are still sitting at $60.00 with the award to be granted on May 23rd. We hope that you'll consider a scholarship contribution yet this week. Donations can be dropped off at the Coleman Engineering office (200 East Ayer Street) through this Friday, May 21st or by contacting Lily at 608-852-7048. Thanks in advance for your kind (and quick) support! The monthly meeting for the Friends group will be held, as usual, on the last Tuesday of the month -- Tuesday, May 25th, at 7:00 PM in room B22 or B24 in the Jacob Solin Business Center at Gogebic Community College (north side of campus, down the stairs into the basement). We will be discussing future events and activities, mapping efforts and upcoming presentations to the City. Hope to see you there! Lily Palmer "To forget our past is to lose sight of our future..."
