Jason Cihlar Wins First Run-A-Rack 8-Ball Singles Challenge of the Season

IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, November 1, 2010 - Jason Cihlar, Mercer, Wisconsin, won the season's first Run-A-Rack 8-Ball Singles Challenge at the Knight Club Pool Hall Sunday night. The Run-A-Rack 8-Ball Challenge is an ongoing competition that requires skill, concentration, and just a bit of luck. A full set of 15 standard pocket billiard balls are racked on the foot spot of the pool table. Each competitor is required to call his choice of balls (either solids or stripes) prior to breaking the rack. The break is a free shot - the player is not required to make a ball on the break. Following the break, the player must then call and pocket each of his seven balls followed by the eight-ball. When a player successfully runs the eight balls, as required - without missing or fouling - he wins! Play is open to players of all ages; both sexes; and all skill levels.

In addition to the Run-A-Rack 8-Ball Challenge, the Knight Club offers the Run-A-Rack Scotch Doubles Challenge. This ongoing competition is a two-player team event. A full set of 15 numbered object balls are racked on the foot spot of the table. The break is a free shot - the team is not required to pocket a ball on the break. In order to win, the team must successfully pocket all fifteen balls, in any order and in Scotch Doubles fashion, without missing scratching or fouling. When Scotch Doubles, players alternate shots. Players take turns pocketing one ball at a time until all of the object balls have been pocketed.

The Knight Club is located at 133-135 West Aurora Street in Downtown Ironwood and is open from 6:00 PM to 12:00 AM nightly. It is an alcohol-free; smoke-free establishment open to all ages.
