Republicans Dominate Statewide Tuesday
BESSEMER, MI - Wednesday, November 3, 2010 - Michigan voters sent a clear message in Tuesday’s election, and elected Republicans to just about every office available. Rick Snyder (REP) 1,624,236 defeated Virg Bernero (DEM) 1,068,916 to be governor-elect. Snyder began campaigning in 2009 as an unknown who never held public office, and went on to win the general election on the campaign of re-inventing Michigan.
Dan Benishek (REP) 113,904 defeated Gary McDowell (DEM) 90,239 to take Bart Stupak's seat in the 1st Congressional District race.
Matt Huuki (REP) 16,031 defeated Scott Dianda (DEM) 12,814 in the 110th State Representative District.
Tom Casperson (REP) 49,864 beat out Michael Lahti (DEM) 39,313 for the 38th State Senate District seat.
Ruth Johnson (REP) 1,247,595 is our new Secretary of State defeating Michelle Jocelyn Benson (DEM) 1,072,498.
Michigan's new Attorney General is Bill Schuette (REP) 1,273,445, who defeated David Leyton (DEM) 1,009,394.
These results are not official, and the numbers are subject to change, however, they are the most current figures available to us.
