Ironwood Christmas Bucks Are Coming to a Store Near You!

IRONWOOD, MI - Thursday, October 21, 2010 - The downtown merchants are once again getting ready for the holidays. This year the annual "Ironwood Christmas Bucks" promotion is making a couple of small changes as well as adding a Facebook page to keep in touch with customers and let them know about specials and promotions.

"The way the "Bucks" work remains the same," says Eva Smith-Furgason, who started the promotion in 2008. "For every $10 you spend with participating merchants you receive a "Buck" - you can then redeem the "Buck" for $1 off a $10 purchase with any other merchant participating in the promotion."

It's a great way to save money while supporting the local economy. It's also a great way to rediscover our downtown.

"I'm always in for a surprise when I visit the merchants to get them signed up for the program" - Smith Furgason says. "Our downtown has much to offer, it employs many people and is very much undiscovered - especially by local residents." We have stores that sell books, jewelry, shoes, gourmet foods, antiques, purses, clothing, fabric, scrapbooking supplies, car parts, beer and wine, cosmetics, kitchen ware, and really just about anything" "I'm also pretty sure I saw at least one kitchen sink."

"With Facebook - I'm hoping we'll reach a wider audience and connect our merchants with their customers. It's not easy to get people's attention in this day and age, and as someone who regularly checks Facebook I think this will give both the merchants and their customers a valuable tool for keeping in touch.

The merchants who have signed up thus far are Creative Spirits Stamping, Depot Antiques, Fabric Patch, Fitness Express, Gasparicks Music, Gogebic Area Thrift, Handsome Prints, Kaufman's Sheet Metal, Knight Club Billiards, Last Tangle Hair Salon, Medicine Shoppe, Northwind Natural Foods Co-op, Old World Meats, Pines Cafe, The Purse Palace, Ronnie's Camera Shop, Superior Chronicle, Tacconellis Restaurant, Uptown Cafe with more to come!

The promotion starts November 26th, 2010 and runs through January 10th, 2011
