2010 Bessemer Pumpkinfest Car Show in A Pumpkin Patch Results Announced

Rick Tippett, Ironwood, took first place “Peoples’ Choice” honors at the 2010 Bessemer Pumpkinfest Car Show in a Pumpkin Patch on Saturday, October 9, with his totally loaded 1938 Chevrolet Panel Truck.

BESSEMER, MI - Monday, October 11, 2010 - Mother Nature shined down gloriously on the “Car Show in a Pumpkin Patch” this year at the 32nd Annual Bessemer Pumpkinfest on Saturday. A record 69 vehicles registered for the Klassic Kruisers Car Club show and they completely filled the Bessemer Auto lot on the corner of US 2 and Sophie Street. Several hundred people cast their ballots for the coveted “People’s Choice” trophies. First place went to the perennial favorite 1938 Chevy Panel Truck owned by Rick Tippett of Ironwood, with second place going to a tricked out 1934 Ford Roadster owned by Jeff Wiemeri, also of Ironwood.

Best in Class and Outstanding in Class trophies, sponsored by Stempihar BP of Bessemer, were awarded in each of ten classes, with the voting on these being done by the show participants themselves. Winners for 2010 were as follows, with Best in Class listed first and Outstanding in Class listed second:

Class A – Antiques to 1949 – Tom Ravelli, Ironwood, 1931 Ford Model A Sport Coupe; Jim Bodin, Washburn, WI 1948 Packard Super 8.
Class B – Antiques, 1950-59 – Willie Wisneski, Wausau, WI 1951 Ford 2-Door Sedan; Mark Miller, Ashland, WI 1956 Metropolitan Hardtop.
Class C – Classic, 1960-64 – Ron and Susie Shuh, Park Falls, WI 1961 Chevrolet Impala; Dale Brookins, Ontonagon, MI 1964 Ford Thunderbird.
Class D – Classic, 1965-69 – Gerald Nelson, Ashland, WI 1969 Mustang Mach I; George Slivinski, Eagle River, WI 1965 Chevrolet El Camino.
Class E – Classic, 1970-79 – Jim Meier, Manitowish Waters, WI 1970 Plymouth Barracuda; Bev Tousignant, Ironwood, 1972 Plymouth Barracuda.
Class F – 1980-89 – Marc and Karen Dean, Eagle River, WI 1989 Pontiac Firebird; Janine Basso, Ironwood, 1987 Pontiac Firebird.
Class G – Street Rods to 1949 – Jeff Wiemeri, Ironwood, 1934 Ford Roadster; Diane Nielsen, Sayner, WI 1939 Chevy Business Coupe.
Class H – Street Machines 1950 to present – Mark Reinerio, Montreal, WI 2008 Ford Mustang GT; Joe and Karen Trittin, Wausau, WI 1958 Ford Fairlane 500.
Class I – Trucks – Bill Melchi, St. Germain, WI 1948 Chevrolet; Dennis Nielsen, Sayner, WI 1952 Ford.
Class J – 1990-Present/Special Interest – Doug Schultz, Sayner, WI 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS; Glen and Pat Ahlswede, Eagle River, WI 2010 Dodge Challenger.

The annual “Car Show in a Pumpkin Patch” is co-sponsored by the Klassic Kruisers Car Club, PumpkinFest Committee, and Stempihar’s BP Station and is hosted by Rocky Racovitis and the Bessemer Auto Company.
