Senator Prusi Endorses Mike Lahti for 38th District Senate Seat

HANCOCK, MI - Monday, October 11, 2010 - State Senator Mike Prusi (D-Ishpeming) today announced that he is endorsing Mike Lahti for the 38th Senate seat that Prusi currently holds. Prusi cannot run again due to term limits. The 38th State Senate District covers Luce, Schoolcraft, Alger, Delta, Marquette, Dickinson, Menominee, Baraga, Iron, Keweenaw, Houghton, Ontonagon and Gogebic counties.

“Mike Lahti understands what Upper Peninsula families and workers need and will work hard to preserve our U.P. way of life,” said Prusi, who has served the 38th Senate District for eight years. “Mike will fight to protect our workers’ jobs, attract new businesses and jobs to our communities, and reform state government to ensure that our elected officials are doing the people’s work and making the same sacrifices that so many families have been forced to make. He is the best candidate for this job and I hope the voters will join me and send him to Lansing as their next state Senator on November 2.”

As a small business owner and investor, Lahti will put his extensive experience to work on retaining the good jobs currently in U.P. communities, and bringing new businesses, industries and jobs to the U.P. He will fight to shake up Lansing to ensure that state government lives within its means.

“I have worked with and learned from Senator Prusi and I look forward to winning the opportunity to continue working to reform government, create jobs, and serve the great citizens of the Upper Peninsula in the state Senate,” Lahti said.
