H.O.P.E. Animal Shelter Blessed By Community Support!
EDITOR'S NOTE - We received this letter today and decided to place it both on the front page and in the Letters to the Editor. THANK-YOU - Thursday, September 9, 2010 - No community organization operates effectively without the strong support of people within that community. HOPE Animal Shelter has been blessed to have that kind of support. The HOPE Board of Directors would like to publicly offer a number of thank you’s to the community. First of all, we would like to thank the voters of Gogebic County for overwhelmingly passing the millage levy for the Animal Control Program. Seventy percent of County voters were in favor of the millage renewal, a strong showing of support. We would like to thank Ann Marie Batiste and the St. Mary’s Catholic Church youth group, Mission Possible, for painting the inside of the shelter with cheery and colorful scenes of animals. Their work brightened up the shelter considerably and illustrated the positive effect that young people can have on their community. Our recent chicken dinner fundraiser at the Breakwater Restaurant was a smashing success. Our thanks go out to all who purchased tickets as well as to the management and staff at the Breakwater who worked so hard for this event. Last, but certainly not least, we thank those of the public who come to HOPE to adopt orphaned dogs and cats. You help us to achieve our most important goal: finding loving homes for orphaned animals. Jim Salmi
