Walk Michigan Trip Winner Meets Governor
MACKINAC ISLAND, MI - Friday, September 10, 2010 - Linda Jindrich of Ironwood was the lucky winner of the Grand Prize trip for two to Mackinac Island this past Labor Day weekend. Linda was one of ninety-five that participated in the Walk Michigan Event sponsored by Grand View Health System and Friends of the Miners Memorial Heritage Park on July 22nd in Ironwood. Linda just returned from the 53rd Annual Mackinac Bridge Walk, joining thousands of walking enthusiasts on a five-mile trek across the bridge. She also had the opportunity to mingle with Governor Jennifer Granholm. Over a half a dozen Walk Michigan events took place from May through July 31, 2010 in the U.P. March. Only one grand prize winner was drawn. The Walk Michigan grand prize was funded by MRPA (Michigan Recreation and Park Association), Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Wellness Council of the Upper Peninsula (WELCUP). Grand View Health System and other participating U.P. hospitals hope to be able to continue offering community walks like these in the future.
