Economic Impact Seminar on Gogebic Range Trail System to Be Held September 15th
IRONWOOD, MI - Wednesday, September 8, 2010 - A seminar outlining the economic impact of building a trail system throughout the Gogebic Range will be held on Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at 6:00 PM in Conference Room B-22 of the Jacob Solen Business Center at Gogebic Community College. Hansi Johnson, the Midwest Regional Director for IMBA (International Mountain Bike Association) and Scott Chapin, will be the speakers at the event. Both gentlemen are very familiar with our area and feel that we have tremendous potential for development of this business. They just finished working with the development of a trail system in an abandoned mining region in the Minnesota Iron Range, encompassing thousands of acres. They have spoken to communities around the Midwest about the economic impact of trail network development. According to Eric Fitting, one of the organizers of the seminar, "We encourage anyone on the range to attend from any of our communities. We hope the City of Ironwood's various commissions (Parks & Rec, Planning, DIDA) and other groups, like the area Chambers, Convention Bureau, GCC, Friends of MMHP, GRTA, Sisufest, etc. can attend. Hope to see you there."
