BCBS of MI & Wellness Council of the UP Encourage Residents & Businesses to "Get Moving"
IRONWOOD, MI - Sunday, January 8, 2011 ― Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan and the Wellness Council of the Upper Peninsula are teaming up again for the 10th annual “Get Moving U.P.” fitness program, an eight-week challenge encouraging local residents and businesses to incorporate physical activity into their daily routines. The goal for participants is at least 30 minutes of activity a day, five days a week. The challenge begins on January 15, 2011, and ends on February 26, 2011. “At Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, we’re committed to a healthier future for all Michigan residents. ‘Get Moving U.P.’ is the perfect opportunity for local businesses and residents to adopt healthier lifestyles and foster relationships with other members in their community,” said Sue Nelson, senior community liaison at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan. “Together we will build a stronger, healthier Michigan.” Residents can register for the competition individually or through their employer by visiting fitUP.org*. In addition to the individual prizes, Blue Cross will donate $1,000 to a health-related charity chosen by each of the top three winners. The $3,000 donation is part of the Blues unique mission to improve the health of Michigan residents, increase access to care and focus on reducing health care costs and improving health care quality across the state.
