Polar Bears Advance to UP District Finals

IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, January 17, 2011 - The Polar Bears advanced this weekend to the U.P. District finals February 18-20 in Houghton, Michigan.

The Polar Bears defeated all four teams, Iron Mountain 9-6, Calumet 8-7, Iron River 7-1, and K-bay 10-0. In net for the Polar Bears, Matthew Clemens, took all four wins with 1 shutout.

Goals were scored by Tyler Morrison (12), Caleb Baxter (8), Nathan Garnell (5), Ethan Roehm (3), C. J. Sorensen (2), Hanna Koivisto, Sydnee Lorenson, Tommy Lundin, and Brett Heil each with 1 goal.

Assists were tallied by Roehm (10), Garnell (6), Morrison and Baxter each with (5), Heil (4), David Collins and Lundin each with (3), Sorensen with 1 assist.

"The team has a lot of character, they never quit and play harder when they are behind. They did a very good job this weekend." Said coach Scott Kellett.
