SISU Announces Closed Streets & Alternate Routes

IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, January 3, 2011 - Thanks to the SISU Race Committee and Coleman Engineering, a map has been provided that shows what streets will be closed to automobile traffic during the January 15, 2011 race. Alternate routes are highlighted in gold on the map. Closed roads are colored red. As of today the only streets that will be closed for the second annual cross-country ski race are: (1) McLeod Avenue from Lawrence Street (WJMS-WIMI Radio) to Lowell Street (The Fabric Patch) in front of the IPSD Building; (2) West Aurora Street from Lahti's Auto Sales Lot to Suffolk Street (Olde Suffok Ale House); and (3) Lowell Street from the alley south of Ayer Street (Brewster's) to the alley north of McLeod Avenue (Lahti's Auto Lot entrance).

During the race people are urged use alternate routes to enter the Downtown. Because parts of Aurora Street and McLeod Avenue will be closed, it is recommended that people use Ayer Street (from Lake Street) to enter the Downtown from the east and McLeod Avenue (from Hurley) to enter the Downtown from the west.
