Healthier Eating Made Easy

IRONWOOD, MI - Monday, January 31, 2011 - With today's busy lives it can seem like healthy eating is just another thing to cram into an already tight schedule. Fast food and ready to eat meals have become a staple in many households and healthy weight and nutrition have flown out the window. What if there was an easy way to make healthy eating more of a routine? What is while doing that you could introduce your family to someting new?

Community Supported Agriculture does just that and more! A CSA, put simply, is a "share" in a local farm. For a fee, you can pick up a bag full of freshly picked seasonal veggies, support a local farmer and make healthier eating a snap - all in one!

This year Northwind Natural Foods Co-op will be a drop off point for Wintergreen Farms CSA out of Ontonagon. Andrea and Scott use organic farming practices to grow a wide variety of veggies, all of which are picked and delivered within 24 hours.

"We have been hoping that someone would start up a CSA in the area again" - said Eva Smith-Furgason who manages the Co-op "It's really an effortless way to eat healthy and in season. The wide variety means you don't get bored and there is always some veggie that you're not familiar with to add diversity to your diet." If you're interested in participating - you'd better hurry! There are only approximately 12 shares left in Ironwood and they will go fast.
