Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition Presents "Celebrate the U.P."
HOUGHTON/HANCOCK, MI - Wednesday, March 2, 2011 - The Upper Peninsula Environmental Coalition (UPEC) is pleased to announce their third annual "Celebrate the U.P." on March 18 and 19. This year's events begin with the local string band White Water with a 7:00 pm performance Friday, March 18th at the Forestry Building of Michigan Tech University. The program, "Songs of the Northland," will feature music written about the U.P. and its residents. The Saturday, March 19th, presentations at the Jutila Center of Finlandia University begin at 10:00 am. Throughout the day, you will hear from a variety of local outdoor enthusiasts, authors, wildlife biologists, recreationalists and other fascinating people. At 3:00 p.m. a panel of experts will discuss the pros and cons of various energy sources. From 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, there will be a reception at the Jutila Center where you may continue discussions with board members and presenters.
