It was a bland and tasteless soup, with feeble bits of carrots floating aimlessly, larger chunks of potatoes rolling about menacingly at the bottom of the pot, with the occasional undulating emergence of a lump of some unidentifiable animal flesh, which was probably at some point a chicken, and as Lena stood watching the slow moving, hypnotic simmering spectacle she thought to herself - 'This soup could use some spices'
